Test Members are Admin-controlled Member accounts that let you experience your Academy exactly as a Member would, from onboarding through Program completion, Events, and community interactions. Test Members

Overview

Test Members are linked to your Admin profile and use your Admin email address for all notifications. You can toggle between your Admin profile and a Test Member profile without logging out or creating a separate account. Test Members behave like any other Member in your Academy: they appear in the Member directory, show up in reports, and trigger Automations. Use them to preview the end-to-end Member experience, troubleshoot issues, or validate Automation logic before it runs for real Members.

Create a Test Member

  1. While logged in as an Admin, click your avatar in the bottom left corner to open your Account Profile.
  2. Select Test Members.
  3. Click Create Test Member.
  4. Assign a name, and optionally assign a Group or enroll the Test Member in a Program.
  5. Click Create Test Member.
The Test Member is now active and available from your Account Profile.

Use a Test Member

  1. Click your avatar to open your Account Profile.
  2. Select Test Members, then select the Test Member you want to use.
  3. The Test Member profile opens in a new tab.
The first time you use a Test Member, it goes through the standard Member onboarding flow. This is intentional: it lets you preview the onboarding experience exactly as a new Member would see it. Once active, the Test Member can do everything a real Member can:
  • Register for Programs and complete assignments or quizzes
  • RSVP to and attend Events
  • Participate in discussions and send direct messages
  • Trigger Automations
  • Hold a Product Manager or Instructor role within a Program
You can have multiple Test Member profiles open in separate browser tabs at the same time, which is useful for testing discussion interactions or DM flows.
Email notifications sent to a Test Member go directly to your Admin email. This makes Test Members the best way to preview the full email experience a Member receives, including welcome emails, enrollment confirmations, and event reminders, without needing a separate inbox.

Manage Test Members

After creation, you can enroll or unenroll a Test Member from Programs and Groups the same way you would for any Member. Use the standard enrollment controls in the Member directory. Note: the Assign and Invite to Program options do not work for Test Members because Test Members do not have a standard email address. Use direct enrollment instead.

Remove a Test Member

  1. Click your avatar to open your Account Profile.
  2. Select Test Members.
  3. Hover over the Test Member you want to remove.
  4. Click the three-dot ellipsis that appears.
  5. Select Delete.
Removing a Test Member permanently removes it from your Academy, including from reports and the Member directory.

Important Considerations

Visibility. Test Members appear in the Member directory, global search results, Program member lists, and all reports, just like any other Member. If you do not want Test Member data included in reports, remove the Test Member after you finish testing. Draft content. Test Members cannot see Programs in draft or Events that have not been published. To preview a draft Program as a Member, use the Preview as Member feature within the Program editor. Admin removal. When an Admin is removed from the Academy, all Test Members created by that Admin are also removed. Onboarding is required. Each Test Member must complete the onboarding flow the first time it is used. You cannot skip or reset onboarding for an existing Test Member. To re-test onboarding, create a new Test Member. Who can create Test Members. Only Admins can create Test Members. Instructors and Product Managers cannot create Test Members. They can use Preview as Member within a Program to view the Member experience for published content.
