Overview
Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI applications connect to external tools and data. Disco’s remote MCP server gives supported clients, including Claude and ChatGPT, a set of tools for working with your Academy. For example, you can ask an AI assistant to find Members, list Programs, invite people, or update access without switching between applications.What You Can Do
The Disco MCP server provides tools that can:- Retrieve basic details about your Academy
- List and create custom Member Groups and subgroups, manage their membership, and permanently remove them. Removing a parent group also removes its subgroups and their memberships.
- Create, list, remove, and generate links for invitations
- List Pathways and add or remove Members
- List Programs and add or remove Members
- Create, list, update, deactivate, reactivate, or remove Members
- Retrieve Member profile fields
- Generate a passwordless login link for a Member
Find Your MCP Server URL
Each Academy has its own remote MCP server URL.- In Disco, go to Admin Area → Settings → MCP Connector.
- Under Remote MCP Server URL, click the copy button.
- Keep this URL handy while configuring your MCP client.
Connect Claude
Claude supports remote MCP servers as custom connectors. The exact setup depends on your Claude plan and workspace permissions.- Copy your Disco remote MCP server URL from Admin Area → Settings → MCP Connector.
- In Claude, open the connector settings and add a custom web connector.
- Enter a name such as
Disco, then paste the remote MCP server URL. - Add the connector and click Connect when prompted.
- You will be redirected to Disco where you can review the access request.
- Click Authorize MCP Access to finish connecting.
Connect ChatGPT
ChatGPT supports remote MCP servers through custom apps. Availability and setup depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions. Before setting up your MCP connector, ensure you have developer mode enabled on your ChatGPT account.- Copy your Disco remote MCP server URL from Admin Area → Settings → MCP Connector.
- In ChatGPT, enable developer mode for your account if required by your workspace.
- From your user or workspace settings, go to Apps and create a new app.
- Enter a name such as
Discoand paste the remote MCP server URL as the MCP server endpoint. - Select OAuth as the authentication method, then scan for tools.
- You will be redirected to Disco where you can review the access request.
- Click Authorize MCP Access, wait for the tool scan to finish, and create the app.
Authorize a Connection
Each Owner or Admin connects their own Disco account. During authorization, Disco shows:- The MCP client requesting access
- The read and modify access requested for your Academy and its Members
- The Disco account authorizing the connection
- The Academy the client will connect to
- The URL Disco will redirect to after authorization
Use the Connector
Enable the Disco connector in a conversation, then describe what you want the AI assistant to do. Be specific about the Academy data involved and ask the assistant to confirm records before making changes. Example prompts include:List the Programs in my Disco Academy.Find the Member with the email address jordan@example.com.Show me the Members in the New Managers group.Invite alex@example.com to the Academy.Add jordan@example.com to the Leadership Program.
Your MCP client may ask you to approve individual tool calls, especially actions that create, update, or remove data. Check the proposed action and inputs before approving it.
Manage Connections
Owners can revoke all connections, whereas Admins can only revoke their own.
- Locate the connection in the Connected Clients table.
- Open the Action menu and click Revoke Connection.
- Review the confirmation and click Revoke Access.

The Disco MCP Connector is available to selected Academies during its initial rollout. The page is visible only when the feature is enabled for your Academy and your account is an Owner or Admin. Contact your Disco representative if you expect to have access.

A connection becomes unavailable if it is revoked, the person who authorized it is deactivated or no longer has an eligible role, or the Academy is no longer eligible for the MCP Connector. Reconnect from your MCP client after confirming that your Disco account and Academy still have access.

Yes. The connector includes tools that can create, update, and remove data. Review tool calls before approving them, especially when they affect Member access, invitations, Programs, Pathways, or groups.

Disco provides a standards-based remote MCP server, and other compatible clients may work. Claude and ChatGPT are the clients currently documented and verified by Disco. Follow your client’s instructions for adding a remote MCP server that uses OAuth.
