Polls are a post block that lets you add a quick vote inside a feed post so Members can respond without leaving the conversation. Polls

Overview

Polls are useful for collecting fast feedback, checking interest, or helping your Academy choose between a small set of options in context. Admins, and Members who have permission to post in the feed, can add a poll directly to any post. Each poll can be single-select or multiple-select, can optionally have an end date, and can allow Members to change their response before the poll closes. Polls can only be added to posts.

Add a Poll to a Post

You add a poll as a block inside the post composer, configure its question and options, and then publish the post as usual.
  1. In the post body, type /poll and select Poll, or click the Add Poll icon in the composer’s footer.
  2. In Poll Setup, use the dropdown at the top to choose whether the poll allows one answer or multiple answers.
  3. Enter the poll question, then add the answer options Members can choose from. Click Add Option if you need more than the default two choices.
  4. If needed, check Set end date and pick when the poll should close. Check Allow responses to be changed to let Members update their vote before the poll ends.
  5. Click Save to add the poll block to the post. Finish the rest of your post, then publish it right away or schedule it for later.

Review and Adjust a Poll Before Publishing

Once a poll is saved into the post composer, you can preview it inside the post before anything goes live. The block shows the question, a total vote count, each answer option as its own row, and the vote total and percentage next to each option. If you set an end date, the block shows when the poll ends. The preview also includes a Submit button, but the poll cannot accept responses until the post itself is published. From the poll block’s overflow menu, you can reopen the poll to edit the end date and the response-changes setting. The question, answer type, and answer options are locked once the block is saved.

Vote and View Results in a Published Post

After a post is published, the poll appears inside the post with the question, the answer options, the current vote total, and its status (ending in the future or already ended). Members vote directly from the post. Once a Member has voted, their selected option is highlighted in the poll. If response changes are enabled and the poll is still open, Members can remove their response and vote again. If response changes are turned off, or the poll has already ended, their vote is final. Once the end date passes, the poll stops accepting new responses and shows as ended.

Who Sees the Results

The person who created the poll can see the results at any time, including before anyone has voted. Every other Member (including Admins) sees the results only after they submit a response, or once the poll has ended.
Use polls when you want a quick, in-context signal from your Academy, not when you need detailed, structured data. If you need fixed right-or-wrong answers tied to a curriculum, use a Quiz inside a Program. If you need longer-form, private feedback, use a Survey.Leave response changes on for casual engagement polls so Members can update their vote as the discussion evolves. Turn response changes off and set an end date when you want a clean, final count, for example when you’re using the poll to make a decision.

FAQ

Where can I add a poll? Polls can only be added to posts in the feed. They are not available in Quizzes, Surveys, Events, or curriculum modules. What’s the difference between a Poll and a Quiz? A Poll lives inside a feed post and collects Members’ opinions or preferences with no right or wrong answer. A Quiz lives inside a curriculum module in a Program and tests Members on single- or multiple-correct-answer questions. Use a Poll for engagement and a Quiz for assessment. Can Members see the results before they vote? No. Members see the results only after they submit a response or after the poll ends. The poll creator can see the results at any time. Can a Member choose more than one option? Only if the poll is set up as multiple-select. Each Member still has one saved response, but in a multiple-select poll that response can include more than one option. Can a Member change their vote after voting? Only if Allow responses to be changed is turned on and the poll has not ended. In that case, they can remove their response from the post and vote again. By default, new polls allow response changes. Can I edit a poll after saving it? The question, answer type, and answer options are fixed once the poll block is saved. You can still edit the end date and whether responses can be changed from the poll block’s overflow menu. To change anything else, delete the poll block and add a new one. Do polls have to have an end date? No. By default, new polls have no end date and stay open until you delete the post or the poll block. Set an end date when you want the poll to close automatically. What happens when a poll ends? The poll stops accepting new responses, its status changes to ended, and all Members can see the results in the post. Who can create a poll? Admins can always create polls. Members can create polls only in feeds where they have permission to post.
