AI Message me & Post Generation helps Admins generate content and spark conversations across channels and feeds with minimal manual effort.

Overview

AI Message and Post Generation provides both suggestions and the ability to prompt for support generating your messages and posts in Disco. Each tool appears contextually where it is most useful: as banners in inactive channels or feeds, or on demand via the AI icon in the post and message editors. This functionality is available to Owners and Admins. Instructors and Members do not see AI-generated suggestions.

Set Up Community Engagement AI

Before using the tools, configure your sources and monitored channels in the Admin Area.
  1. Go to Admin Area > Disco AI > Community Engagement and click Edit.
  2. Open the Sources tab. Toggle internal and external sources on or off:
    • Internal: Content, Documents, Videos, Member Profiles, Disco Channel Messages, Slack Channel Messages
    • External: Links, Knowledge Bases
  3. Click Update to save.
At least one channel source must be enabled. Feed posts are always used as a source regardless of your settings.

Use AI Suggested Messages

Suggested Messages appears as a banner inside a channel that has been inactive for 7 or more days. It generates a draft message to help restart conversation.
  1. Click Create Message with AI on the banner.
  2. Review the generated draft.
  3. Edit if needed, then click Send.
The banner does not appear in channels with recent activity.

Use AI Message Generation

AI Message Generation lets you create a custom channel message on demand using your own prompt.
  1. Click the AI icon in the channel chat toolbar.
  2. Enter a prompt, for example: “Start a conversation about onboarding experiences.”
  3. Optionally, click the + icon to attach links, videos, or documents as context.
  4. Optionally, enable Web search to pull from online sources.
  5. Optionally, enable Community context to pull from your community content.
  6. Click Generate and wait for the draft to appear.
  7. Edit and click Send when ready.
When neither web search nor community context is enabled, the AI generates content based on the prompt alone. Attached files are used as context during generation.

Use Suggested Posts

Suggested Posts appears as a banner at the top of a community feed that has been inactive for 7 or more days. It generates a draft post to kick off activity.
  1. Click Create Post with AI on the banner.
  2. Review and edit the draft.
  3. Click Post or schedule it to publish later.
The banner does not appear on feeds with recent activity.

Use Post Generation

AI Post Generation creates a feed post from your prompt on demand.
  1. Open a Feed app and click the AI icon in the post editor.
  2. Enter a prompt, for example: “Welcome new members to the community.”
  3. Optionally, click + to attach supporting content as context.
  4. Optionally, enable Web search.
  5. Optionally, enable Academy context.
  6. Click Generate and wait for the draft.
  7. Edit and click Post or schedule as needed.
Use the Post Generator to maintain a consistent posting cadence across your feed even in quieter periods. Pair it with community context enabled so generated posts feel grounded in your Academy’s actual content and conversations rather than generic suggestions.
